Sentiment analysis of public opinion in Indian languages

Understand how people feel about your leaders, schemes and decisions, not only how often they mention them. We measure positive, negative and neutral sentiment by topic, region, language and platform, and show what is driving each change.

Overview

Beyond counting mentions

Volume alone can mislead. A spike in mentions can mean a scheme is popular, or that it has a problem. Sentiment analysis reads the tone of each post, article and comment, so that you can tell praise from complaint and see which topics are pulling opinion up or down.

Indian social media is written in many scripts and often mixes languages in a single sentence, with sarcasm and local references that generic tools miss. We combine language models suited to Indian content with analyst review, and we report sentiment alongside the reasons behind it, so that the numbers lead to decisions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about sentiment analysis

What is sentiment analysis?

Sentiment analysis classifies the tone of text as positive, negative or neutral. Applied to social media and news, it shows how people feel about a person, scheme or issue over time.

Can sentiment analysis understand Hinglish and sarcasm?

Code-mixed and sarcastic posts are hard for automated tools. We use models suited to Indian content and have analysts review samples, especially on sensitive topics, to keep results reliable.

How is sentiment different from mentions?

Mentions count how often something is discussed. Sentiment shows whether that discussion is favourable or not, and why.

Can we see sentiment for a specific constituency?

Where posts carry location signals or local references, we report sentiment by state, district or constituency. Coverage for very small areas depends on the volume of online conversation.

Do you profile individual social media users?

No. Sentiment is reported in aggregate by topic, region and platform. We do not build profiles of individual users.
