Overview

Citizen services on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is one of the most widely used apps in India, which makes it a direct way for a department to reach citizens with useful information. Application status, payment reminders, scheme eligibility, camp schedules and emergency advisories can all be delivered as WhatsApp messages, and citizens can reply with questions or complaints.

Government entities use the WhatsApp Business Platform through an approved Solution Provider, with additional verification by Meta. We manage that set-up, prepare message templates for approval, build chatbots in Indian languages and connect WhatsApp to your existing portals and grievance systems.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about WhatsApp messaging for government

Can government departments use the WhatsApp Business Platform?

Yes. Government entities can use the platform through an approved Solution Provider, after business verification and an additional review by Meta. We manage this process for departments.

Can political parties or candidates use WhatsApp Business messaging?

No. WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy does not allow political parties, politicians, candidates or political campaigns to use the WhatsApp Business Platform. For political clients we plan outreach through other channels, such as AI calling, social media and events.

Do citizens need to opt in?

Yes. WhatsApp requires opt-in before a business or department sends messages. We help design simple opt-in options on your portal, forms and helplines.

Can the chatbot answer in Hindi and Gujarati?

Yes. Chatbots and templates can be built in Hindi, Gujarati, English and other Indian languages, and citizens can choose their language.

How long does set-up take?

Verification and approval timelines are set by Meta and the Solution Provider, and they can take several weeks for government accounts. Journey design and integration run in parallel, so that services launch soon after approval.
